Anyone who has tried to track down a discontinued component for a 35-year-old sports car knows the drill: it requires equal parts patience, persistence, and money. The Acura NSX arrived in the U.S. market for the 1991 model year, placing it firmly in classic-car territory today. Despite its unusually strong reputation for reliability compared to contemporary European exotica, the passage of time is relentless for any vehicle on four wheels. Honda has taken notice, and is now launching a Heritage Parts Program to give first-generation NSX owners the resources they need to keep their mid-engine icons running properly.

The Heritage Parts Program divides its offerings into two categories: genuine reproduction parts and Honda-compatible parts. The genuine reproductions will be manufactured using the same materials and processes as the originals, while the compatible parts have been re-engineered with updated materials and modern production methods. Honda had previously announced the program last summer, but at that time only referenced replacement parts made using contemporary manufacturing technologies.

Honda has not yet published a comprehensive parts catalog, stating only that coverage will span powertrain, interior, exterior, electrical, and chassis components. The company has also stopped short of naming additional models that might be included in the program down the road, but has indicated that it will eventually extend to other Acura and Honda performance vehicles.

The Heritage Parts Program sits within Honda's broader Heritage Works sub-brand, which also encompasses an in-house Restoration Service. That restoration offering is currently limited to Japanese customers, meaning U.S. owners for now benefit only from the parts supply side of the program. For NSX owners eager to get their hands on hard-to-find components, the wait is almost over: Honda says parts will be available through Acura dealerships this summer.
